Presentation
Jean-François ROCH, former student of ENS Cachan (class of 1984 in physics) is a professor of physics at the École Normale Supérieure Paris-Saclay.
His research work, carried out at the LuMIn laboratory (Paris-Saclay University, ENS Paris-Saclay, CentraleSupelec and CNRS), relates to the study of diamond crystal defects and their use as quantum sensors. With his team, he integrates these sensors in cells with diamond anvils to characterize the new quantum states of matter which appear at pressures greater than one million atmospheres. This work is developed in very close collaboration with Paul Loubeyre and his team. at CEA-DAM.
He is co-director of the coordinated research laboratory on quantum sensors between LuMIn and THALES for the joint development of quantum sensors and laser devices.
He is also coordinator of the EQUIPEX+ e-DIAMANT project for the creation of a national network on the scientific and technological applications of diamonds.
He set up with Pascale Senellart, CNRS research director at the Center for Nanosciences and Nanotechnologies - C2N (CNRS/Paris-Saclay University), the specific year of ARTeQ training, the objective of which is to give students a multidisciplinary vision , combining physics and computing, quantum technologies.
